Our Story

As a young man Myron Storing spent many days visiting his grandparents in Wikieup and he often wished he could come to live here someday. Myron went on to pursue his chosen profession of being a pilot. One of his assignments was to fly over the jungles of Peru and look for oil. On this same assignment, while in a canoe trip down the Amazon he met a beautiful young lady. Her name was Luchia and it was love at first sight.

During their first few years together between flying jobs and for holidays the young couple came to visit Myron's mother, who had by then retired and lived at his grandparents' ranch. Family friends convinced Myron that he should go into the turquoise business. After a very short time the turquoise business grew by leaps and bounds and Myron knew he had finally found a way to make his dream of living in Wikieup a reality.

All he had to do was convince Luchia!
Love conquered all, including language difficulties, cultural and style differences and Luchia agreed! She agreed to stay for 30 days; this agreement was to be for 30 days at a time.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained!
In 1975 with $500.00 down on a million dollar dream, Myron and Luchia purchased a 5 acre parcel of land at this very location. The jewelry business expanded to 18 local employees and took place out of their home over the kitchen table.

The gift shop was opened in 1976 and expanded to add the restaurant in 1986. From these humble beginnings Myron and Luchia spent years building, raising 2 children, planting and collecting the finest selection of Southwest art and Native American jewelry in the region.

Together–One month at a time!
Since Luchia's passing in December of 2000 Myron Sr. along with their children Myron Jr and Rosella have kept up with the time honored tradition of looking for some of the world's most unique items. Through their combined efforts they still offer their customers the finest authentic Native arts from all over the globe. From an extensive collection of fine Kachinas to carved gems and fine silver jewelry. Please take the time to admire all the treasures available in our gift shop or stroll through our garden and see the peacocks and variety of flowers and our large Koi pond.
